THURROCK RESIDENT
, ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ winner and former X-Factor star Stacey Solomon has joined forces with Impulse Leisure and made a long-term commitment to support the Trust and its leisure centres.
Solomon, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2010 and also came third in the 2009 X-Factor competition, got her relationship with Impulse off to a flying start by helping to launch two brand new HIIT training classes at Blackshots Leisure Centre.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions are the latest fitness trend –short, fast and scientifically proven to provide better results than longer, more traditional exercise classes. Solomon launched two new 30-minute classes from the Les Mills GRIT SERIES at Impulse Leisure – Blackshots last month. The classes will run at Belhus Park and Corrigham Leisure Centres.
Solomon says: “I love Grit – I can come to Impulse get in and get fit in 30 minutes!“
GRIT CARDIO is a fab fat burner. The session combines high-impact body weight exercises with an explosive workout that ensures you’ll be burning fat for hours afterwards. GRIT STRENGTH uses weights to build strength, reduce fat and leave muscles lean and toned. GRIT PLYO, which will be launching at Belhus Park in January, incorporates the principles of plyometrics to build power and increase speed and leg strength.
Classes are small – only a maximum of 12 people can attend – so instructors can push all participants to their limit, for the best results.
Garry Tapsell, Group Health & Fitness Manager at Impulse Leisure, said: “Our new GRIT sessions are perfect for anybody who doesn’t have a lot of time to exercise but wants to get fit, and stay fit. Because the sessions are only small, everyone gets the instructor’s attention and there’s no hiding at the back! The sessions are packed full of energy, support and encouragement, with the instructor and members motivating each other to achieve the best results possible.”
Les Mills will provide Impulse with updated GRIT sessions every three months to keep them new and interesting.
Geraldine Taylor, a member at Impulse Leisure who tried GRIT Cardio and Strength last week, said: “Loved it. Loved it. Loved it! These classes are a great way to start the day, so different to the usual step classes I do and definitely worth trying.”
Sharon Sly said: “It has made us work as a team, helping and encouraging each other (and my bum has changed shape!)”
